Kawasan Trip - journal entry by Skewer

My friends and I went to Kawasan Falls, Badian, Cebu. Its a 2 to 3 hours drive to the south - west of Cebu. I have been there for the 6th time, I think, I'm not sure but I lost count already. If you like nature and long walks, then you won't have a problem in coming to Kawasan. You need to walk for 30 mins before reaching the first falls, and by there you need to take the steps going to the 2nd falls. It is tiring but it is all worth it.

Pope and I brought our babies with us. Lelu (japanese spitz) seemed to enjoy long trips like this but Lala (duchshand) just slept the whole time.

We were greeted with this sign board. I think this board has been there for years.

So our 30 minutes trek to Kawasan starts...

From Skewer's Journal: Birthday Girls

Oh yesterday almost destroyed my diet. Not that I am complaining, I lurve eating but one has to think of the perks of being a lot lighter and a lot thinner. BUT it was my friend's birthday (Jaya!), so me and my posse friends planned a surprise party for him and for Yo, for his belated bday party, which turned out not be a surprise anymore, coz he managed to find out about it and Yo didn't make it.

So my diet got postponed for one night. yepey!

Chicken... Pork kebab... Pizza... Chocolates... sodas... red wine...

Magic Sing Karaoke.... I lurve it... I dont have a singing voice, but it was magic, I enjoyed screaming my lungs out. (Sorry Neighbors)

I love birthday parties... don't you too???

I lurve my friends, I will surely miss these beautiful people when I leave soon. I try to enjoy their company when there is still time to be together.

Lurve y'all! *muah muah muah!

Friday Night - Skewer's account

I am glad to say that my Friday night redeemed itself from last week's Friday night debacle with Will Ferrell's moronic deadpan acting in the movie "Bewitch" and the boredom that almost left me comatose and lying in bed, with my mouth frothing.

Well, most of my Fridays would start at Ayala Mall, with my mandatory arcade game of "Soul Callibur" with Glenn, Yo, and Yo's Bf Andrue. appetizers at EastWest and dinner at Food Choices. brought this amazingly delicious chinese food called "fresh lumpia" from Rustans, it had veggies, nuts and a little meat on it, I would even consider it as an healthy option for any meal.

As time went on clicking, me, my boyfriend, my fag hag sister and Aldouine contemplated to where we should sashay ourselves on that Friday night. It took us forever to think of a place, since there was limited option to go to, BTC? no, coz my BF thinks he is underdressed; Pipeline? my sister haven't been there, but I don't really like the place, too butch for me; VUDU? nope, not on a Friday and FMJ? Gawd! I rather eat rat poison than go back to that bar that was only a glorified oversized Durty comfort room. Then, I remembered that there was this new spot that opened months ago, VERANDA. Yeah, lets go to VERANDA! So we scrammed outside Ayala and hailed ourselves a Cab.

FYI, VERANDA (Ve.ran.dah) is a portuguese word that means " A porch or balcony, usually roofed and often partly enclosed, extending along the outside of a building" Thanks Mr. Webster!

When we arrived at our desired destination, I was surprised to see an old 80's house who was slighly remodeled into a club mold, which failed miserable. I refrain from making any snide remarks, coz we haven't actually stepped inside and see what it has to offer, so I am giving this place a second chance.

Once we went inside, we found ourselves a table near the DJ booth. I sat comfortably and my eyes started to survey the area. The interiors were poor, and it was really a small place that can accommodate 7 tables and it didnt have anything special that would really stick to my mind. "Oh well, since we are already here, might as well, order some drinks and give ourselves an hour tops" I just found out that it was 80's night, so the house music played a lot of song from the 80's, and I remembered my favorite 80's song. I got piece of paper, wrote the title and gave it to the DJ. The DJ gave me strange look and he said that he has the song but he will try to play it. I felt that the song that I gave him wasn't his cup of tea. So I politely smiled at him and said "of course" but in the back of my mind, I wanted to claw him and pull out his innards and throw it to the next table, who were filled with smoking little teenager girls pretending to be women. So I went back to my seat, and forked some sauteed mushrooms that Aldouine ordered, it actually tasted good and wolf it as if I wasn't on a diet (coz I am). So I waited, then, I heard a familiar tune, yes! the DJ played my song. WEHEEEY!!!

My baby, he don't talk sweet
He ain't not much to say
But he loves me, loves me, loves me
I know that he loves me anyway

And maybe he don't dress fine
But I don't really mind
'Cuz every time he pulls me near
I just wanna cheer:

On, let's give the boy a hand
Let's hear it for my baby
You gotta understand
Maybe he's no Romeo
But he's my one-man show

My baby may not be rich
He's watching every dime
But every night he holds me
And we always have a real good time
And maybe he sings off-key
That's alright by me
But what he does he does so well
Makes me wanna yell

On, let's give the boy a hand

I lurve this song, and when it was played with a little techno funk to it, it was even better. I started to move the groove and some people were also doin the same. I was starting to enjoy the place. I was feelin the 80's already, then asked "if I would have to go to an 80's party, what garb would I be wearing or who represent the 80's time era?" Thats easy to easy to answer, it was this lady who started it during the 80's.

Who else? The material Girl --- > Madonna!!!

Anyways, I noticed that a lot of people were starting to come in by 11:30 p.m. and by 12:00 midnight, the place was jam packed with yuppies, young socialites, unknown faces, and familiar faces, rubbing elbows at each other. People started dancing on their seats, and waved their hands with every new song that was played. Some stood up and shaked their booty and bumped ass to ass with anybody near. I was teary eyed, not because I was overwhelmed with happiness, just because of the smoke from all that cigarettes that people were puffing inside an airconditioned bar. That was the draw back, there was no clear distinction of non-smoking area and the smoking area. Whats so funny is that the people who sat outside didn't smoke at all, but those who were inside, smoked like a mad man who can't get to smoke tomorrow. I didn't mind, coz I was really enjoying the place, and I didn't want to spoil the night by dousing people with fire extinguishers! So people you are off the hook. There was even a brawl between the socialites and some guys who wanted to cut-in on the dance floor, but it was short lived as the DJ and some their friends tried to do some damage control, how disappointing. If there was beer bottle bashing that night, that actually would make a lot happier and could have made my night! (dear readers I don't really like violence)

My friends decided to take off by 1 a.m. because it was beginning to be really crowded. So we walked out VERANDA with the satisfaction in ourselves. I liked the place, eventhough it looked like a run in of a residential/boarding house/whore house/Night club, I didn't care, because it had great music, good food and an awesome crowd. That would not be the last time for me, and I promise to go back there with more of my friends.

It was too early to go home, so we went to a 24 hours coffee club. It was a bit far from where we are, but we choose to walk and give these lungs some clean air and get some exercise. But Mike offered us a ride, but we declined, Thanks anyways Mikey, we appreciate the kind gesture. So we continued to walk. We arrived at Big Bucks and ordered something to drink and eat. And watched CNN as they relay the news about the aftermath of the storm at New Orleans. CNN also showed US President G. W. Bush hugging some residents in the area. (rolls eyes). I refrain to comment, our country had more problems to talk about.

We went home after we finished our food and drinks. Got ourselves a cab, got home, jumped into bed and slumberland awaits. This was a great day. "Hope Saturday will be better" I murmured and *snorezzzzz.

A COPY and PASTE POST FROM SKEWER - Angal? *smiles!

It was a long week. Really. A long long week. Not that I am complaining. I was a rather long week. Did I mention that I had a long week? *smirks

I haven't posted for days, and I felt like it was ages that I haven't written any entries for all my blogs. I was too busy doing some other things, which is not an excuse not to update. Even losing a limb is not an excuse. (Write with your feet! Gaddaaammiitt!)

My so good friend, Nudela Barracuda (that's not his real name though, but we call him that, its sounds so silly. But I like it, we like it, he likes it, he should change his real name) …. he returned home safely the other Sunday ago. But he decided to grace us his presence on the next day. So, we received a text to meet the Posse at Starbucks. So I tootled my way to starbucks by 6:30ish. So when I arrived there, all I got were screams and screeches from him. I was really glad that he back home and I supposed he was too, but I learned that he left his heart in UK. So you came back heartless gurl?! Lals. We got ourselves dinner and escorted him home.

So the week came like a whirlwind (ironic, coz I said it was long week). I was always out with our friends at Ayala. Either, playing some strange arcade game or sitting idly somewhere, bitchin at everyone to decide to where we can gobble up some good healty dinner (I'm on a diet anyways – lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks).

Friday night, we were all at the mall. Again. We planned to meet everyone on Saturday for dinner and some singing at a new Karaoke bar at BTC. So my friends decided that we should wear pink, since we were
the PINK POSSE, it was just right that we sport the color pink. It was good for me and my partner since we were madly in love with the color. "Pink is the new Black" I heard someone say that, and I mentally retorted "Uhuh for a GAY GUY! Like duh!" Some of my friends made a mad dash to the department store and frantically bought themselves pink tops.

COMES SATURDAY – Since we came home late, I woke up past ten in the morning, which is very strange to me coz I always wake up like 6 am (biological clock for work). It was great though, I felt that I have rested enough and I wanted more of it. So I just leisurely stayed in bed for hours and watch some DVD's "Beauty Salon" Queen Latifah kicked ass! Jorje played by Kevin Bacon was an obnoxious gay twat
that needed a good slappin in the ass.

Anyways… evening came, we were all dressed in our pink outfit. So we paraded ourselves to Ayala and to BTC. We decided to have dinner at KRUA THAI. We sat at one side of the restaurant where their floor was elevated to look like we were actually sitting on the floor. It was really kewl, that made our dinner more enjoyable and we got a feel of an authentic Thai style

After which we went to POD 5 (karaoke bar) and reserved a room for us. So stayed there for 2 hours. It was all singing, shouting, screaming with songs that we didn't have the tune for. God save our lungs and ears. So the favorite songs we supposedly "sang" were from Destiny's. So a lot of bootie shaking happened that nite! My poppy chose his favorites, mostly from Eraserhead and Rivermaya.

Alright, after POD 5, we decide to make our presence felt at FMJ. Some of us have no idea how that place would really looked like. We only heard from other people about it. So I was really expecting something. So that something turned out to be something disastrous. So have you ever seen a condemned building? Well, this is place is something similar to that effect… one dingy place. Forgive me, I don't really complain that much, but this one badly needs a interior decorator. A major makeover! Seriously, that place scares me. I was just waiting for the roof to come down on us and flatten us to our deaths. So excused myself and escorted meself out, to breathe some fresh air (there was no smoking area –so that place is an accident waiting to happen – alarm the fire department!). Then all of my friends followed soon, so we were all staying out, for safety and away from that place. I promised to myself, I shall never set my feet on that place again, unless if I have a death wish.

Sooooo… We concluded to go to Bigbucks and guzzle up some brew. Some walked and I just rode. I was too tired to sashay in the wee hours of the morning, so I leave the walking to my perky friends. So we just stayed there, and talked, yakked and reminisced the good times and hilarious ones. Made people nervous, laugh and felt good. It was a great day though. I am glad to meet my friends again. Its lovelier this time because we just enjoyed our company, instead of me bitchin for a change.
